Saltair Modular navigated this complex project while delivering a high-quality, functional facility within tight timeframes and budget constraints. The project required a full design and construct approach, and seamlessly coordinated with a separate civils/carpark project contracted by the client.
The primary challenges included compressed construction timeframes and site constraints posed by parallel civil works. The project needed to be executed without disrupting airport operations.
To address the tight timeframes and site constraints, Saltair devised an innovative modular delivery method involving the construction of two oversized 96m² modules at their Coolum production facility and transporting them to the airport during a curfew shift with police escort. This careful planning allowed for the reopening of a key airport thoroughfare by 5am, minimizing disruption to airport operations. Saltair was able to significantly reduce on-site construction time, leading to faster project completion and a cost-effective solution that met the client’s specifications and quality standards.
