New Staff Accommodation Delivered for Biloela Hospital

Saltair is proud to be working alongside Central Queensland Health to deliver six brand-new modular staff accommodation units at Biloela Hospital.

This project is all about supporting the people who look after regional communities every day — by providing them with modern, comfortable and thoughtfully designed places to live.
Supporting Regional Healthcare Where It Matters Most

Attracting and retaining healthcare workers in regional areas is a constant challenge. Quality staff accommodation plays a key role in making regional placements more appealing and sustainable — especially for nurses, doctors and allied health professionals who may be relocating or working away from home.

These new modular units at Biloela Hospital are designed to:

• Offer a safe, comfortable base close to work

• Reduce the stress and complexity of finding housing

• Help healthcare staff feel valued and supported in their roles

By investing in well-designed accommodation, Central Queensland Health is not only improving day-to-day living conditions, but also strengthening the long-term resilience of local health services.

Thoughtful Design for Everyday Living

Each of the six new modular units has been planned with practicality and comfort in mind. Features include:

• Undercover car park for weather protection and convenience

• Ramp accessibility to support inclusive access

• Reliable internet access to support work, study and connection with family and friends

• Outdoor clothesline and functional service areas

• Shared living space and kitchenette, creating a welcoming, social environment

• Laundry facilities within each unit

The three-bedroom layout also includes an ensuite bedroom, offering additional privacy and comfort — particularly valuable for staff working long shifts or irregular hours.

These design choices reflect a clear focus on liveability, recognising that staff accommodation needs to feel like a home, not just a temporary place to stay.

Why Modular Works for Regional Health

Using modular construction at Biloela Hospital delivers several advantages for regional projects, including:

• Faster delivery, with much of the building work completed offsite

• Reduced disruption to hospital operations and surrounding community

• Consistent quality, thanks to factory-controlled construction

• Predictable timeframes, which help with staffing and planning

For regional health services, this means essential infrastructure — like staff accommodation — can be delivered sooner and with greater certainty, supporting both recruitment and retention.

Building for Community Impact

This project is a strong example of how smart, modular solutions can support regional healthcare in a very direct way. By providing high-quality, well-designed accommodation close to the hospital, healthcare workers can focus on what they do best: caring for the community.

Saltair is proud to play a role in that story — partnering with Central Queensland Health to deliver infrastructure that underpins better health outcomes for regional Queenslanders.
